with meticulous detail
and gained awareness

lending impressions of depth
devotional intentions
monumental presences
iconographic elements
modeled delicacies
evincing serenity

provincially nevertheless
as familial tenderness
in artistic centers
with foreboding death
accepted as conventions
of background elements

glass bowls with apples
grapes plums and pears
burning candles
hurricane lanterns
barren lands stripped bare
engraved artists’ hands...
