" A Long "
by Suzán Jiván Mom & Mom-Mom Suzán
A long and measured view
garnering blinds from blown-out windows
far too soon to stay neutral in an age of post-truth
like reconstituted slate shingles from roofs
mushrooming grass roots and dismantled gazebos
used as school rooms in full bloom
playing piped-in music during walking tours in tribute
to the lose lips that sank ships
as seagulls screeched far far out at sea
thanks to modern technology
floating over foaming oceans
above pre-launched torpedos
speeding away from submarines
in the name of letting freedom ring
for underwater Old Glories
well above normal while snorkeling
for something smelling a little fishy
while building new wings to house old ideas
experienced swimmingly like pendulums swinging
away from buildings while going out for pizza
in museum cafeterias full of diversity
involving pepperoni as a spicy topping for hot
gastronomical projects in take-out boxes
deemed monuments to corrugated cardboard
with the power of herbs on politics
in sanctuary restaurants gone undocumented
omitting cilantro offering walnuts plus pomegranates
pledging to prohibit harassment based on factors
like immigration status fearing travel for families
in station wagons of practicality merging into solidarity
garnished with newly harvested happenstance
intending to cleanse the palate in the aftermath...
